Not only is technology becoming an increasingly important tool used to enhance the learning process, it is also being used outside the classroom to facilitate the architectural design process.

At Gifford C. Cole Middle School in Eastside Union School District the technology infrastructure includes a state-of-the-art "Lab 2000" computer laboratory, and multi-media capability for the entire campus. An instructional wall in each classroom includes hard-wired connectivity between the teacher's desk, the instructional wall and the students via data ports in certain parts of the classroom. This allows network capability within the classrooms, inter-classrooms, and throughout the entire campus.

At Julius Corsini Elementary School in the Palm Springs Unified School District technology is being used to encourage the community to be involved in the modernization and new construction projects occurring at their schools. Through the implementation of an interactive Web site, community members have been able to view Board and committee decisions, meeting minutes, as well as ongoing design work. Additionally, the Web site allows all Architects and Construction Management teams to make immediate design and content changes through conferencing, alleviating the need for continuous travel, as most of the teams are located outside of the Palm Springs area.
