Project Phasing allows a project to be completed in pieces. Usually, a segment of the construction or modernization is completed while that portion of the school moves into interim space. Through project phasing the District keeps its schools in operation, as new construction or modernization takes place.

By properly phasing Jack Northrop Elementary School, we are able to deliver the school as quickly as possible for the Lancaster School District and accommodate two adjacent schools (the current Jack Northrop Elementary and New Vista Middle School) by keeping the sports fields in use.

During phasing, the project is bid out in pieces. The grading and site work was completed as the initial project and the core building is scheduled for completion in September of 2003. The District is able to reduce some costs by reusing relocatables, transferred from the completion of West Wind Elementary School. New relocatables will also be obtained for a portion of the Jack Northrop campus. While the sports fields will receive some upgrades, they will remain available for use by the two existing schools. All these factors allow for the District to maintain the maximum usability of the site, through the construction process.
