| At Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Flewelling & Moody implemented an ambitious Master Plan to address various needs of the District, students and the community. Representatives from Flewelling & Moody made a presentation to the Manhattan Beach School Board overviewing the Master Plan. The Master Plan's goals are to replace 15-year old portable classroom buildings, add additional classrooms, provide an accessible path of travel, redefine and create an exterior piazza. Creation of a piazza will relieve overcrowding of the lunch courtyard, provide an area to foster student interaction, enhance, beautify and unify the Mira Costa High School campus. A modernization framework was developed to facilitate the creation of four new buildings-a sports complex, a performing arts center, additional classrooms and administrative space as well as modernization of the existing facilities. Outdoor learning spaces, or "plazas," have been created to bring together students pursuing similar disciplines so that they may share experiences and exchange ideas. The project is being completed in phases, with the next phase, the student services center, expected to be complete December 2003. click here to see the powerpoint presentation >> |
