The Salvation Army's Hollywood Complex successfully accommodated four functions on once site: affordable elderly housing, indigent youth housing, community facilities, and religious facilities. Typically these activities are not housed on the same site; however, funding and plot availability in this urban setting made creating a complex the clear solution. Working with the Los Angeles Redevelopment Authority, Flewelling & Moody created a master plan that unified the site's historically significant buildings with the three new buildings. Among the first new construction projects in the depressed heart of Hollywood, the ocmplex reinvigorated the area dramatically and renewwed civic pride in cherished part of Hollywood history.
