The challenge
of Julius Corsini was incorporating modular buildings into the current
campus
site which consisted of rescued pieces from the district’s previous
continuation school, while
providing the campus with its own feeling of ‘ belonging’.
The design concept behind
the new campus proposes the use of simple and pure volumes, such
as cubes or boxes to complement the pre-fabricated, modular classrooms
placement, alongside the delicately detailed custom pieces such
as the elevator and stair towers.
These vertical elements also closely
balance the horizontal line of the buildings as well as the natural
horizon of the surrounding landscape. In addition the vertical stair
and elevator towers create focal points across the campus for each
new phase of construction thus relating various campus buildings
to each other.
