Requesting community funds, via the first ever bond vote, for the largest school in District history required special consideration by both the District and planning members. Creativity and ingenuity were combined during the planning phase, since the bulk of land used to determine bonding capacity is used for agriculture. Long-range planning and forward-thinking helped the hands-on Board make decisions that would affect not only initial costs, but life-cycle costs as well. While the school was planned to be cost-efficient, strong design elements pay homage to the region's farming and aeronautics heritage, as well as utilizing elements that allow the school to blend into the desert environment.
