In the fall of 2000, we began a $40 million modernization program with El Rancho Unified School District. Scheduled to take five years to complete, El Rancho placed a high priority on maintaining community support for the current project, and for future modernization initiatives.

As a result of the District's concerns, Flewelling & Moody developed a public relations program designed to meet the following objectives:
  • Maintain community support for the District's modernization programs, which use funds passed through a 1994 general obligation bond
  • Educate and involve the community in the process of modernization
  • Build community support for future bond measurements
The foundation of El Rancho's public relations initiative was a quarterly newsletter, distributed to all families of children who attend the District's schools, in addition to key community stakeholders, such as business owners, and city officials.

The newsletter created an open exchange of information between the District and its constituents, and allowed the District to provide accountability to the community.
