February 17, 2004, Pasadena, CA -Merrill Barella of Flewelling & Moody Architects will moderate a workshop at the 2004 annual Coalition for Adequate School Housing (C.A.S.H.) conference. Entitled "Comics aren't just for kids; lessons learned from the superheroes" the 90-minute workshop will examine how to maximize the "heroic" skills of your team for effective project management. Attendees will be provided with guidelines, examples, and precedents during a discussion with panelists who collectively represent a project team.

Panelists for the workshop, taking place from 2:30-4 p.m. on February 27 at the C.A.S.H. conference in Sacramento, include representatives from a law firm, construction management firm, architecture firm and a school district. Terry Tao, a partner in the Cerritos office of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo, practices primarily in the areas of school and public works, construction law, architectural malpractice, construction contract administration, land use, environmental law, and related matters. Bob Allison, President of Current Enterprises, has more than 28 years experience in the construction industry, with 23 years in school construction. Dave Decker, a project manager with Flewelling & Moody, has more than 25 years of experience in virtually every aspect of architectural design and facility planning. Ned McNabb, Superintendent for Wilsona School District, has overseen several successful school building projects. Merrill Barella, project manager for Flewelling & Moody and an award-winning designer, will moderate the workshop.

The workshop will focus on the goal of having a smooth running construction project, starting with selecting an architect and construction manager, developing appropriate budgets and schedules, coordinating contract scope between all consultants, and forming effective advisory teams. Panelists will discuss real life examples and give insights into common misunderstandings that may occur.

This year is C.A.S.H.'s 25th Annual Conference on School Facilities. The conference takes place February 23-26, 2004 at the Sacramento Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Sacramento.
